Finding a college is a daunting task. There are thousands of four-year colleges in the United States, and it’s challenging to find the ones that are a fit for each individual student.
As a result, many people start their college search by looking at the big-name colleges (large state schools and highly-ranked schools) and the ones closest to their home.
CollegeIQ breaks through the noise to help you find more colleges that are a fit for you. We aggregate data about each college and make it easy to find schools you might want to apply to.
CollegeIQ is the smarter way to search for a college.
Our story
When my kid started looking at colleges, I quickly realized that applying to college has changed a lot since I was a teenager.
The process of applying to schools has changed drastically. Schools that weren’t hard to get into then are now prestigious. Admissions rates at many schools have plummeted. And perhaps the biggest change is how expensive college has become.
My kid’s school hired a college advisor to suggest schools to apply to. The advisor suggested a school that wasn’t on any of our lists. Ultimately, that school ended up being the best fit and offered the best scholarship.
It got me thinking: what if there was a way to help every student and their parents find these great colleges they aren’t familiar with? What if we could provide not just the normal data about a school (admissions rate, majors, list price) but could go deeper: data about how much people usually pay to attend after scholarships, weather, geography, politics, and even campus gun laws?
The result is CollegeIQ.
Every student is unique, and CollegeIQ lets you search for colleges based on what’s important to you.
