Updating anti-DEI law data to add six states

CollegeIQ aims to provide as much information about colleges as we can to help students and parents make informed decisions about where to attend.
One of the data points we provide is information on whether a state has a specific law limiting or banning Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion-related activities.
In some cases, these laws merely ban requiring job applicants to provide a diversity statement. In other cases, the laws have wide-ranging implications on schools, such as forcing them to eliminate programs designed for particular groups.
In most cases, the laws only apply to public colleges.
CollegeIQ has updated its state data to add six states that have added an anti-DEI law in 2025:
Kentucky
Mississippi
New Hampshire
Ohio
Oklahoma
West Virginia
There's a lot of nuance to these laws, and we encourage students who are concerned (either way) about anti-DEI laws to investigate each state's law. They should also ask colleges how the laws impact them.
State laws around DEI are changing quickly. If you are aware of a new state law that we haven't tracked, please contact us.
